INGREDIENTS
Milk - 600 ml
Dhuli urad dal - 100 gms
Whole dried milk / mawa - 50 gms
Diced onion - 1
Green cardamom - 4
Saffron / kesar leaves - a pinch
Whole red chilly - 2
Bay leaf - 2
Salt - to taste
Clarified butter / ghee - 2 tbsp
METHOD
Boil milk in a heavy bottom vessel.
Once boiled keep it on a low flame.
Add urad dal and cook for 20 - 25 mins.
Add whole dried milk / mawa and mix well.
In another pan heat clarified butter / ghee.
Add whole red chilly,green cardamom and bay leaf to crackle.
Add diced onion and fry till brown and add in the dal.
Add saffron / kesar leaves in the dal
Lastly we add salt and mix well.
Serve dal shahjahani with chapaties.
